Imagine turning on the tap and nothing comes out

For 2.1 billion people, that’s every single day.

You wake up, and nothing comes out of the tap. No coffee, no shower, no glass of water on the side. For 2.1 billion people, this isn’t a thought experiment, it’s every single day.

Instead, women and children often walk for hours to the nearest waterhole, for water that, in the end, isn’t even clean. Roughly three children die every minute from illnesses caused by poor hygiene.

Why I’m doing this

Two worlds, one principle: every voice counts.

I’ve been running since I was a child. After taking part in a fundraiser for Rolf Stahlhofen’s Water Is Right® Foundation, one thought wouldn’t leave me: why not run there myself, all the way to Billund?

Every October, the worldwide community of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® facilitators meets there, a community I’ve been part of for years. Two worlds, one principle: every voice counts, and every community finds its own solution.

That’s exactly why I’m running the 1,000 km from Frankfurt to Billund.

Where your money goes

Water Is Right®, founded in 2011 by Rolf Stahlhofen.

Water Is Right® is a registered charitable foundation, founded in 2011 by Rolf Stahlhofen (singer with Söhne Mannheims), based in Frankfurt am Main.

#DRINKWATERGIVEWATER

For every litre dispensed from a WIR water cooler, the foundation provides ten litres of clean drinking water where access is lacking. This is funded by leasing sustainably produced water dispensers to offices, hospitality venues, hotels and concerts.

Culture of Maintenance

Not short-term supply, but local specialists trained so communities can run their own water systems for good.

5 million, soon 100 million

More than 5 million people already have what we take for granted. By 2033, 100 million more are set to join them.

Figures as stated by the foundation; the 2033 target has been independently confirmed (announcement 27 March 2023).
